Looking Forward Activities Group is an exciting new service for people with learning disabilities.

What we do:
  • Cooking
  • Drama

  • Meals Out
We aim to support members in the following areas:


Being Healthy

  • Introduction to a variety of sports and leisure activities 
  • Guidance on healthy eating, with the opportunity to cook simple meals and dine out 

Staying Safe

  • Teach and re-enforce good road safety practice whilst out and about 
  • Plan travel using public transport 
  • Raise the awareness of dangers posed by strangers 
  • Teach  strategies for dealing with unwelcome behaviour 
  • Appropriate Relationships – Drama based learning 
  • Internet Safety 
  • Basic First Aid Skills

Enjoy and Achieve

  • A fun place which enables socialisation 
  • Confidence building through games, team working and drama 
  • Identify their goals and ambitions and look at how to achieve them 

Making a Positive Contribution

  • Planning and decision making in respect programme 
  • Develop positive relationships 
  • Find out what is happening in local community and get involved 

Achieving Economic Wellbeing

  • Develop personal and social skill 
  • Discussion based topics around ‘thinking about work’ and ‘supported living’

Times

  • Friday 9am – 1pm 
  • Memberships will be limited to a maximum of 12 members per group 
  • Members will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of activities.  The main emphasis will be on developing life and social skills 
  • Places must be booked, this is not a drop in facility 

Eligibility criteria

Members must:
  • Have a Learning Disability; 
  • Be aged 16-30; 
  • Have independent personal care skills; 
  • Be able to demonstrate a minimum level of compliance necessary for his/her development; 
  • Not behave in a way likely to cause a risk to themselves, other members or staff. 

Funding

  • Direct Payments 
  • Self Funding 
  • Aiming High Payments 

Payment

  • Invoices can be paid by cheque or Bank Transfer 
  • Payment is due on the first session of each month 
  • Invoices will be issued one month in advance 
  • Session are £12.50 per hour
