Chief Constable Darren Martland accompanied PCSO Griffiths on a patrol on Norton South On Saturday 21st March.
Chief Constable Martland did work in Runcorn some time ago as a Sargent on the Local Policing Unit.
The Chief Constable spoke to retail staff and popped into the Queen of Hearts for a chat with Barry and Michelle as to how they are settling in the community.
We also patrolled Mooring Close and Brookvale were I discussed the problems we are having in the area and what we are doing to make Norton South a safer place to live.
The Chief was very interested in the Kops and Kids Scheme we ran last year and we visited Brookvale Recreation Centre and spoke to staff about the scheme and its success.
Also discussed the ROC project on Brookvale which is slowly taking shape and the taking over of the Community centre by the local charity Halton Speak Out and the engagement work we will be organising on the area.

There has been a spate of burglaries across the Runcorn area. I believe persons are also posting suspicious activity on social media sites which is great to warn the local community . Please can you also inform the police times, dates, any kind of description at all which way they ran off too vehicle registration plate number if you can. This information is vital for the police to be able to track which area the suspects are.
Brookvale Community Centre
Michelle is the engagement officer at the Community Centre and is posting some helpful information on the Brookvale Community Centre Face book page, they are also running a competition all you have to do is like the page and tag in three of your friends to win a lovely hamper

Laura and I have been working together with some of the vulnerable tenants on the area as a priority.
The estate walkabout for has March has been cancelled I will let you all know the new date.
Anti-Social Behaviour
As far as I am aware no ASB reports on Norton South. Although I have been informed there are still youths hanging around the areas of an evening. An area of concern for me is still Padstow Square, Brookvale Bus stops and properties at the bottom of Kilncroft Close, due to a group of youth’s mix of males and females 14 to 16 years hanging around on the bridge and in the bus stops. There has been damage to buses, hate crimes against physical and mentally disabled members of the public who attend Ella and Halton Speak Out, playing loud music screaming, shouting and making loud animal noises causing concern and distress to residents in Broome Court

We continue to work along with partner agencies to deal with the issues that have been concerning residents for some time, if you have any intelligence or concerns you can send information to me on the email address below through Crimestoppers or report to Onward Homes.
A STYKER camera has been installed on Mooring Close and the area is discussed once a month at a meeting with all agencies at the Town Hall for updates and how can we continue to improve the area.

It would seem that there is still a lot going on around the area of Mooring Close the subway and the woods at the rear of Mooring Close.

We are keen over the coming months to try to advertise the introduction of Neighbourhood Watch schemes on Norton South via the Cheshire Alert web page. If any members of Cheshire Alert would like to set-up and become a coordinator of a watch scheme then we as the police will offer support and advice in any way we can, my e-mail is attached at the bottom of this newsletter and I look forward to hearing from anyone who wishes to set-up a scheme that we can get involved with.
