ROC Brookvale and Sutton park
(Redeeming Our Community)
We are still asking for residents young and old to join the ROC project as this is what it is all about the residents taking back the community, we are looking for people with all kinds skills to support the project, please pass the word around put it on your social media.
This is a structured community engagement event that invites members of the community to gather and discuss the specific needs of their community, and explore practical ways of meeting those needs.
Note this is not a conversation to complain it about raising awareness of issues.
ROC brings your community together in a unique way and makes use of the passion, energy and capacity of its members to give our community the best possible chance at becoming a safer, kinder place to live.
Point is we can all help to make Brookvale/Sutton Park a cleaner and safer place to live.
We only had 5 residents at the last meeting.

Event
The big clean up sponsored by Keep Britain Tidy and Halton Borough Council will be at Brookvale Community Centre on Friday 20th March 2020, this is a mega 90 minutes litter pick and we need as many residents including the kids to join in. This will also correspond with the grand opening of our HELLO café in the Community Centre which is part of the ROC Brookvale/Sutton Park project.
More information to come.

Police Crime Commissioner and Cheshire’s Chief Constable

Will bring their Join the Conversation event to Runcorn this month
This is the final event in a series of public engagement opportunities where PCC David Keane and CC Darren Martland have given local residents the chance to talk to them about policing in their area.
The Runcorn event will take place on Tuesday 3rd March, 7pm at Brookvale Community Centre on Northwich Road.

NEWS

KNIFE SAVERS

Our first Knife Savers course was held at Brookvale Recreation Centre, staff from community centres, schools, local business, police, and local pub staff all attended the training from Prometheus and were then given there free knife savers kit.

Rob Jackson Emergency Nurse Clinician then presented the young person’s presentation he gives to schools and colleges very graphic and extremely.

Interesting. Rob was also recently on BBC news speaking about the work he does and showing the Knife Savers pack currently being rolled out in Runcorn.

We are pleased to let you know that Brookvale Community Centre, the Queen of Hearts Pub and Brookvale Recreation Centre now have Knife Savers bleeding control kits in house.

ROC EVENT KOPS AND KIDS VALENTINES DISCO

ROC event KOPS and KIDS valentines disco was fabulous really well attended by families which was magical
We had a fabulous disco, yummy tuck shop with hot dogs, MAKO providing key rings and badges as a keepsake of the evening.
PC Panda even popped in and had a boogie with the kids.

The stunner of the evening though was showing off our newly decorated Community Centre which is now under new management of Halton Speak Out who did a fantastic job in decorating the room for the event. If you wish to book any of the facilities at the Community Centre please email your enquiries to enquiries.brookvalecommunitycentre@outlook.com

YOUNG VOLUNTEERS

KOPS AND KIDS young volunteer’s seminar at Brookvale Recreation Centre was very well attended. Parents and young volunteers had a presentation on how Kops and Kids was started our ethos and why we do what we do.

On Saturday 29th March our young volunteers where able to gain a Tennis Leaders Award certificate as we held a course at Brookvale Recreation Centre.
It was a great day and all the young volunteers enjoyed the course and passed. Two of our young volunteers have also completed their First Aid Training.
We are hoping to get another First Aid course on for some more of our Young Volunteers.

Kops and KIDS is also about supporting our young adults to gain qualifications and show some volunteering experience on their CV’s.

YOUR HOUSING GROUP
Laura is now fulltime on Brookvale.
Laura is fully supporting our ROC group and has attended the ROC meetings and has already put actions in place to clear up the area and listened to residents’ concerns and aspirations for the Brookvale area.
YOUR Housing have also made a generous donation to our Kops and KIDS Scheme.
Laura and I have been working together with some of the vulnerable tenants on the area as a priority.
Laura and I have arranged an estate walkabout for March, local councillors have also been invited to attend. Hoping this will be a regular occurrence on Brookvale as it is one of the suggestions from residents
Anti-Social Behaviour
Op Scrambler is still on going and you can report anonymously where bikes are being kept and incidents of riding anti-socially to runcornlpu.cheshire.pnn.police.uk.
There has already been a bike reported razzing about a little black bike around Murdishaw.
As far as I am aware no ASB reports on Norton South
The fabulous team from WE ARE WITH YOU (formerly addaction) have been involved in some outreach work with young persons in the area and we regularly have a catch-up to discuss.
MOORING CLOSE
We continue to work along with partner agencies to deal with the issues that have been concerning residents for some time, if you have any intelligence or concerns you can send information to me on the email address below through Crimestoppers or report to Onward Homes.
A STYKER camera has been installed on Mooring Close and the area is discussed once a month at a meeting with all agencies at the Town Hall for updates and how can we continue to improve the area.

It would seem that there is still a lot going on around the area of Mooring Close the subway and the woods at the rear of Mooring Close.
A Neighbourhood Action Walk was completed on Wednesday 19th February with all agencies attending and discussing the changes to the environment around this area needs.

Litter Picks
I am in touch with Murdishaw residents who are organising the litter picks to support and attend when on duty. This is an excellent initiative by residents who are being supported by Onward Homes. It would be nice if more resident became involved in projects on their area.

Trucam
I continue with Tru-Cam enforcement on Murdishaw Avenue. The speed limit is 30 mile an hour, the amount of activations has fallen since I started enforcing this road.
Murdishaw Avenue/Jack search Way
No further update for this area this month
The SID speed sign will stay in place for now.
Still complaints from pedestrians trying to cross the road and residents in vehicles leaving the Sutton Park estate.

Brookvale Primary
No tickets again this month and residents state the parking is so much better so thank you.
There will always be issues at schools with regards parking please just use your common sense and be aware of those walking into school.

Murdishaw West Primary/ Barnfield Avenue
Had a lovely morning with the reception class last month the kids tried on uniform and seeing and hearing the police car, some really good questions asked.
I am continuing to assist the school crossing patrol on Barnfield Avenue, the speed drivers are approaching the chicane at school crossing time is questionable. I have witnessed some very near misses, please take care there are flashing amber lights informing you that the school crossing patrol is in action. Some drivers still stopping on the yellow zigzags quiet simply DON’T.
Unfortunately, if that co-operation is not forthcoming, enforcement measures by fixed penalty or court proceeding may be the only alternative.

CRIME
A male who was caught on CCTV on Norton South trying vehicles has been arrested, taking other jobs into consideration this male is now serving a prison sentence.
No reported incidents on the busways I have been patrolling them at every available opportunity.
Reports of a suspicious male on Murdishaw and on Brookvale both incidents have been thoroughly looked into and CCTV trawls undertaken. Unfortunately nothing found but thankfully there have been no more reports of the male in the area.
Motorbike has recently been stolen from outside an address on Masseyfield Road ongoing enquiries.
Damage to vehicles and windows for absolutely no reason whatsoever! I have followed leads but no names or evidence has been found. This has been on both Brookvale and Murdishaw.
A lot of domestics get reported on my area remember “be kind”

We are keen over the coming months to try to advertise the introduction of Neighbourhood Watch schemes on Norton South via the Cheshire Alert web page. If any members of Cheshire Alert would like to set-up and become a coordinator of a watch scheme then we as the police will offer support and advice in any way we can, my e-mail is attached at the bottom of this newsletter and I look forward to hearing from anyone who wishes to set-up a scheme that we can get involved with.
