Information sent on behalf of Cheshire Constabulary

We spoke to a male yesterday 11022020 at 1430 hrs in Cronton Lane after receiving a call from a concerned resident.  The male had been knocking on doors in the Hill View area (Birchfield/Farnworth Wards) asking if anyone wanted to sell their gold jewellery in return for cash.  He had a handmade identification badge.

Trading Standards are aware of this male.  Please contact Trading Standards should this male knock on your door.

If anyone knocks at your front door for whatever reason, always check their ID.  If you are not happy, then do not let them into your home.  Tell them you are busy and shut the door.

Never ring the telephone number on the ID card.  Tel them to wait outside, shut the door and ring the genuine number or call a relative or friend.
