Crime update –
  • Burglary on Chorlton Close overnight 15th – 16th Jan. Caller reporting her house has been broken into sometime during the night between 23:30 - 08:30. Entry has been gained through the PVC door at the back of the property. Audi a4 has been taken.
  • Burglary on Marina Village overnight 21st – 22nd Jan. Someone has gained entry to the address via the backdoor, possibly been left insecure as there is no damage. Handbag is missing along with vehicle, a white Vauxhall Insignia.
  • Attempt robbery on busway between Murdishaw and Preston Brook 12:30hrs on 7th Jan. Lone female was walking down the busway when she has felt somebody pulling at her bag, offender has not got away with anything. CID dealing.
ASB/criminal damage –
  • Off-road bike issues reported in Windmill Hill woods, I have had a meeting with the Woodland Trust at the site where a make-shift off-road bike track has been formed. The woodland Trust are going to be filling the craters will large logs to make the area less appealing for the riders. We discussed the option of a fence but it was deemed too costly for how successful it would be.
  • On-going neighbor ASB at Dover Close, PC Kenwright and Holly Rowbottom from Riverside housing are looking into this. If you are directly affected by these issues and have any information/CCTV please contact us on 101.
  • Damage to bus windows on 2 occasions between Windmill Hill and Norton caused by youths throwing bricks. CCTV enquiries are taking place with Arriva.
  • A children’s push scooter was used to smash a window on Southampton Way, no CCTV or witnesses. Local housing association are dealing with the repairs.
  • Group of youths causing ASB at Stockham Ski slopes on 19th Jan, one of the youths has shoved the centre manager before making off.
Suspicious activity –
  • 3x calls of suspicious activity in the Marina Village / Littlebourne area of Norton North following a car and key burglary on Marina village. Two calls related to unknown males in dark clothing wearing hoods trying people’s gates and door handles and a further call reporting a sus vehicle in the area with 2 males on board with their faces covered. The vehicle reg has been passed to the police and an intelligence report created.
  • 2x reports of a suspicious van near to St Bertelines school that had spooked a couple of the local children in the area. Searches have been conducted around the hours of school closing time, parents have been made aware and re-assurance visits completed with the reporting person.
  • Reports of a suspicious/abandoned van on Littlebourne, police checks were carried out and the vehicle was taxed and insured. Vehicle has now left the area. No cause for concern.
Roads Policing –
  •  Speed enforcement has taken place weekly on Norton Station Road, a few activations each time however much better than when speed enforcement started a few months ago.
  • Parking complaints on Broadfields / Norton Gate have been looked into, contact has been made with St Bertelines school regarding this issue, drivers have been advised and vehicles have been issued with advisory notices and fixed penalty notices. I have recently made contact with the local councilor for the area to discuss what options we have going forward.
Schools –
  • Internet Safety talk completed at Gorsewood Primary to year 5 and 6 pupils. The same talk has been planned for St Martin’s pupils on Monday 4th March 2019.
  • Attended St Martins for the opening of a new memorial walkway in honour of a staff member who sadly passed away last year.
