News Bulletin
Runcorn Local Policing Unit, Norton North
December 2018
Crime update –
  • A number of residents from Blyth Close have reported malicious communications incidents whereby they have received Christmas cards in the post from unknown person(s) containing details from a historical newspaper article with details of an assault that took place in 1987 – 1988.
  • On 19th December a motorbike was taken from a garden shed in the area of Petersgate, the bikes is described as yellow and white body with red spokes on the wheels. No CCTV or witnesses, nothing for CSI.
  • During the early hours of 10th December an address on Delphfield has been subject to criminal damage (possible attempt break) whereby a catflap has been ripped off the rear kitchen door. No other signs of damage and no entry gained to the property.
***If you have any information on any of the above please contact 101***
ASB/criminal damage –
  • A property on Dover Close has been subject of Graffiti on the front walls of the building. No CCTV, no witnesses. Local housing association has been made aware.
  • Early hours of 26th December a property on Blyth Close reported criminal damage to their rear garden fence that backs on to Murdishaw wood. CCTV and house to house enquiries were negative. Security and advice offered to the victim.
  • We have received reports of youths using quad bikes and patrol go-karts on Muridhsaw Valley. A photograph of one of the youths was provided to police by a member of public. We have also put out a social media post appealing for information and a leaflet was conducted in the area.
Suspicious activity –
  • Throughout December we received 3 calls of people knocking on doors only for nobody to be there when residents have opened their doors. There is nothing to suggest this is linked to crime however it is always worth checking out of the window first/leaving your chain lock on your door and having security lighting and CCTV at your front door to deter any ASB or criminal activity.
***Please ensure you are keeping your windows and doors locked whenever possible to do so, especially during evenings/nights***
Roads Policing –
  • An off-road bike was recovered from the Town Park area (just off Long Spinney). This bike had been reported stolen from the Warrington area.
  • A section 59 warning notice was issued to a young male riding a motorbike on public footpaths between Norton Lane and Nortonwood Lane.
  • Speed enforcement continues on Norton Station Road however activations along with highest speeds have reduced over the past month.
