Email Scam
We have recently received information from one of our Cheshire Police Alert users that they have been contacted, via email, stating they were entitled to a refund from the HMRC.  The email then asked for bank details.
The HMRC would never send out an email requesting this information.
There is a comprehensive list of what to look for in official emails and ways to report suspicious contact direct to the HMRC.  This can be done through the official site.

If you have been, or are aware of someone who has been targeted in this manner please report it. 
Do not be embarrassed to report a scam, scammers are cunning and clever.  There is no shame in being deceived.  Reporting potential scams will help prevent others from being deceived.
