Employers and jobseekers to benefit from UK Employability Day
26 June 2018Cheshire West and Chester Council’s successful Work Zones will be running a series of special events during National Employability Day to help people prosper in the world of work.
Valuable support will be available for jobseekers and people already in employment at various locations across the borough. It is also an opportunity for employers to meet potential future workers.
National Employability Day is Friday, 29 June and events are taking place across the borough.
A ‘Boost Your Business’ workshop is in Northwich Work Zone at Station Building on Manchester Road from 10am.
It will be delivered by Google Digital Garage Team who will teach workers how to advertise online, how to promote their business on social media and grow an online audience to attract more customers. To book a place at the event, call the Northwich Work Zone on 01606288540.
Chester Work Zone and Chester JobCentre Plus are running curriculum vitae surgeries. Four sessions will be held throughout the day from 10am until 3.30pm at the Bluecoat Buildings on Upper Northgate Street.
All claimants will need to be booked on to a session by their own work coach. The aim is for claimants to be able to self-critique their CVs and boost their chances of getting interviews. Each claimant will be given a handout to take away.
The Winsford Work Zone is running a local job fair at Wyvern House from 10am-1pm. The event will allow employers and services the opportunity to meet local job seekers. It takes place in the new Public Services Hub at Wyvern House which has special facilities on site including private interview rooms.
Contact the Winsford Work Zone on 01606 288901 or email@example.com if you are an exhibitor and wish to secure you space.
Cllr Brian Clarke, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Infrastructure, said: “The council is focused on ensuring people in our borough are supported so that they are able to secure employment and prosper in the workplace.
“The events planned for National Employability Day are a fantastic opportunity for residents who wish to improve their personal professional circumstances to obtain significant advice and support from the right people.”
Last year saw over 200 centres taking part in the day nationwide, with activities including jobs fairs and stakeholder visits, conferences, report launches and employability day tea parties. Some organisations welcomed hundreds of visitors and many signed up more jobseekers as a result.
