Christmas Bauble Trail launched to support local award-winning charity

31 October 2018

The Northwich Business Improvement District (BID) has partnered up with local charity Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group to provide children with a fun Christmas Bauble Trail activity to partake in at this year’s Christmas Extravaganza, taking place on Saturday 24 November.

The BID has purchased twelve baubles off the charity to further aid the positive strides they’re making in and around Northwich to ‘unlock the potential of people with Down’s Syndrome (DS)’.

Twelve retailers have volunteered to take part in the trail including Abdas, House of Quirk, Club Class Travel, Nigel Bailey Hair, Curtain Magic, Northwich Art Shop, Crafty Stitches, Pretty Princess Cakes and Bakes, CRS Consultants, Store 101, Sew Easy and John Griffiths Fruit and Veg shop.

Each business involved will be issued with a letter to write on their giant Christmas bauble and have also been encouraged to decorate and personalise them.

Children wishing to take part will be able to collect a Christmas Trail form from the BID’s stall, which will be on Witton Street, near The Works, on the day of the Extravaganza. From here they must find each bauble, collect the letters and work out the Christmassy phrase.

Once the form is completed participants must take it back to the stall where they will collect a delicious chocolatey prize.

CEO of Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group, Julie Duff, has commented on the partnership saying: “I’m extremely grateful that the Northwich BID has offered to sponsor us through this activity and aid our ongoing activities and initiatives. The Northwich Christmas Extravaganza is one of the main highlights of the year and we’re particularly pleased to be able to play a part in it!”

The group recently scooped a hat trick at the North West Charity Awards ceremony in Manchester including Young Charity Ambassador, Small Charity, Big Impact – Rising Star, and Fundraising Campaign of the Year.

BID manager Jane Hough is also pleased to be collaborating with the group, she said: “Supporting the local organisations within the community is extremely important to us and I’m pleased that the both of us have managed to come together to provide something not only for the charity but also for the community as a whole.”
