The government has two schemes to support working parents with childcare costs:
Cheshire West and Chester Council can provide information and support for parents, carers and childcare providers on early years places available in our borough.
- 30 hours free childcare for three and four year olds
- Tax free childcare
Councillor Nicole Meardon, Cabinet Member Children and Families, said: “We encourage all families to look on the Childcare Choices website to see if you are eligible. You could get support whether you have toddlers or teens. You could get up to £2000 towards your childcare costs. Free childcare can help your child to get the best start in life.
“Locally we can help you find information on how to claim your child’s free place. You can also find out what you and your child will get out of a free place. Visit the ‘early years and childcare’ webpages on the Cheshire West and Chester Council website.”
You can apply for 30 hours free childcare before your child turns three. You are advised to apply as soon as you are able. To ensure you get a code for the term after your child turns three you must have applied by the end of the previous term.
It is important you reconfirm you are still eligible for 30 hours and tax free childcare every three months.
If you need assistance or do not have access to the Internet, you can call the childcare service helpline on 0300 123 4097 and apply over the phone.
